WSSR Assistant Coordinator, Voluntary.

Purpose of the Role

To assist the coordinator in the administration and logistics of rehoming and transporting of Welsh Springer Spaniels in the UK, along with other administrative duties connected to the charity’s work on the ground. The role would suit a highly organised and methodical individual with an interest in the breed and sufficient time to dedicate as and when required.

Duties

o To assist with the coordination of rehoming of Welsh Springer Spaniels.

o To maintain detailed records of contacts, assistance offered or given and placement of dogs, along with record keeping for prospective new owners and any other interactions in line with GDPR.

o To provide data to the trustees for Charity Commission returns.

o Coordination of post placement follow-ups and ongoing support as required.

o Scheduling annual welfare checks.

o To cover the coordinator role during any period of absence.

o To provide general administrative support to the coordinator as required.

o Evidenced handling experience with Welsh Springers or minor spaniel breeds.

o Proven communication skills in stressful situations. This may be evidenced through professional qualifications or job roles e.g. public facing roles.

o IT literacy, including use of spreadsheets.

o Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

o Current driving license and appropriate insurance, with the use of a vehicle to transport dogs legally if required, although this is mostly outsourced to professionals.

o Be willing to potentially undertake further training. The charity will fund agreed training.

o To be willing to provide a DBS certificate, this may be an insurance requirement. Any fee would be met.

Desirable but not essential Experience

o Previous experience in a rehoming or assessing role for a dog charity.

Contract

This is a voluntary role which attracts travel and sustenance expenses.

Working Conditions

The role is principally administrative and home-based, but may, from time-to-time, involve travel and working in the homes of Welsh Springer owners. It may also involve the transporting of dogs.  We have a lone working policy which needs to be adhered to ensure safe working conditions.
